Accommodations

Where you'll stay when you attend CONAKO27. And why it pays to book early.

Book Early

Book early, and then a longer weekend

Between 600 and 800 participants are expected at CONAKO27, and the Forum Fribourg is hosting another event that same weekend. As a result, there is high demand for accommodations in and around Fribourg.

Our advice: Make your reservation as soon as you have your ticket. Most hotels allow free cancellations up until shortly before your stay, but a fully booked weekend can’t be undone. And once you’re already in Freiburg, it’s worth staying one more night.

Location

Three regions, Three Experiences

The Forum Fribourg is located on the outskirts of the city in Granges-Paccot. Depending on what's more important to you—short commutes or evening activities—a different area might be a better fit.

  • At Forum Fribourg

    Walking to the Convention

The shortest routes—perfect after a long evening of gala festivities. There isn't much going on in the area in the evening, and you can take the bus to the Old Town.

  • In the city center and the Old Town

About 15 minutes by Bus 1

Restaurants, bars, and the Old Town are right outside the door. Bus No. 1 runs every seven minutes during the day to Forum-Casino; the last bus leaves the Forum at 11:33 p.m.

  • In the region

    20 to 40-minute drive

Düdingen, Murten, or La Gruyère often offer more value for your money and turn the conference into a mini-weekend getaway. They’re easily accessible by car or train.

Good to Know

Five Things That Avoid Trouble

  • Book as a local organization. Booking multiple rooms in the same building is often cheaper, and you won't have to end the evening at three different hotel entrances.
  • Think about Sunday. The farewell brunch takes place on Sunday morning. Checking out at 10:00 a.m. doesn't work well with that schedule—ask the hotel if you can check out later, or leave your luggage there.
  • Check the cancellation policy. Making a reservation is free if you can cancel for free up until a few days before. I wouldn't book without that clause.
  • Be sure to factor in the visitor's tax. Overnight stays in the canton of Fribourg are subject to a visitor's tax, which the hotel charges in addition to the room rate.
  • Take public transportation. If you live downtown, you don't need a car. Bus No. 1 runs every seven minutes during the day, and after the gala evening, that's the smarter choice anyway.
